Luckily SEO is SEO no matter what platform you choose. There are some extra things that can be done in Squarespace to optimize.

Luckily SEO is SEO no matter what platform you choose. Some platforms (like WordPress) have good practices with their code from the beginning and get you an extra start but there is still a lot of work that has to be done to get WordPress in the top ranking spots.
Tips
1. Nail Your Page Titles & Meta Descriptions
Squarespace gives you SEO fields—use them!
- Write clear, keyword-rich titles (not just “Home” or “About”).
- Keep meta descriptions human-friendly and inviting, not just keyword stuffing. Think: what makes someone click?
2. Use Headings Like a Boss (H1, H2, H3)
Search engines love structure.
- Every page gets one H1 (your main keyword/phrase).
- Break up content with H2s/H3s for scannability (Google reads like a speed-scanner).
3. Optimize Images (Don’t Let Them Weigh You Down)
Squarespace makes it easy to upload giant images—but Google hates slow pages.
- Compress images before upload.
- Add descriptive alt text (good for accessibility AND SEO).
4. Create Internal Links (Keep Visitors Buzzing Around)
Don’t let people land and bounce.
- Link blog posts to services.
- Connect related pages.
- Use natural anchor text (not “click here”).
5. Blog & Update Regularly (Google Loves Fresh Honey)
Squarespace has a built-in blog—use it!
- Answer your customers’ questions in posts.
- Target long-tail keywords (“best website builder for coaches”) instead of generic ones.
- Consistency beats once-in-a-blue-moon publishing.
